Well, I’ve known one Staffordshire who would lick any intruder into submission and I have a friend who is an official pit bull rescuer (the local sheriff would call her first when they had a rescue) whose record so far is perfect for well-behaved and well-socialized animals. I’ve known 4 of her dogs and none of them were scary, ever, even a pack.

That said, I never saw anyone threaten her in their presence...that may have made a difference.

Very loyal dogs. She spends hours working them almost every day, which probably makes a difference.

Our two former Akitas could be a handful. Stubborn, with minds of their own. The one with Husky genes loved being naughty. He would just do what he wanted and his expression when he broke the rules was always like he was laughing at us. The *purebred* (American Akitas are essentially a mix) loved to go off on bunny runs. We had 80 acres at the time, so it was cool. Couldn’t have one now with only 3 acres and neighbors.
