Especially because the fake news media is not there to broadcast the event. They are only there in case something goes wrong or there are any mistakes which they can then frame with hours of discussion. IIRC both Clinton and Obama traveled with their own professional TV/ movie crews. They shared the feeds but they had control over what one out.

All major media has now cut Trump’s audio and is running commentary.
Trump has gone off script too much. If he had kept it tight he would have been finished in the 30 or 40 minutes his people said the speech would run and the networks would have carried it all. JMHO
