I saw them once back in their heyday. Leftist political band who didn’t leave much of an impression on me. Apart from their provocative name they would draw blanks from most I would guess.

Their masterpiece was Holiday in Cambodia which was an anti-authoritarian song against Pol Pot.

It became something of an anthem in the punk world and there are many covers of it.

They also have a funny screed against Jerry Brown called California Uber Alles and they dis Jane Fonda in a classic called Kill the Poor. They had a great way with satire. Jello Biafra, the lead singer, became a spoken word hit. Unfortunately the band had a major falling out as many do.

I saw them at the Keystone in Palo Alto with a very good band called Whipping Boy. The lead singer went on to found an art band called Ox Bow. Like Jello, he is also a very interesting character despite his politics.
