This article hit home with me, especially with regard to NYC airports. I recently flew to San Diego and went to the airport bar at JFK to get my customary pre-flight double-vodka, as I'm a bit of a nervous flyer and that drink really calms me down.

Well I sobered up quickly when I got my bill for $38! Yes, that is how much a double-vodka (Titos) will run you at the JFK airport bar. I try to avoid beer before getting on airplanes because I'd prefer to avoid a trip to the lavatory during the flight. But as expensive as the beer is there, I might need to switch to beer next time.

As for Fenway Park, it was not always expensive to drink beer there. I used to go to games in the mid 1970s where a beer was 75 cents. Not only that but they had vendors going up and down the aisles selling it to you so you didn't even have to leave your seat - except to go to the restroom later.

I get free drinks in the lounges - everything at the airport is expensive!
