I need more time on the range. I joke with my friends that I know where the range is but I haven’t been there since 2018. I can’t expect a great long game when I don’t practice. My last competitive round was in 2018 and I quit completely for the 2019 season. With about 30-35 competitive rounds a season, it had become work and I’d lost touch with why I started playing in the first place, plus I was travelling so much for competitive bridge that two intense hobbies were too much for a working girl.

I hadn’t planned to return to the game for the 2020 season, but then … covid … and that’s all we were allowed to do. Since I’d been grounded, literally, I returned to the game and began to love it again without the angst of a bad round sending me to the range for another hour or so afterwards. Not having to worry about my score/handicap also frees me up to play whatever tees I feel like playing - sometimes very short and sometimes very long. I drop everything to play on a rainy day because I’m out there alone and can zoom around the 18 in exquisite peace in 2:30 on foot. I’m a drowned rat when I come in but oh so happy! I whined a bit on my previous post, but I’m thrilled to be back in the game with whatever scores I get and to be loving it again. It’s been the ONLY good thing about covid.
