Yesterday, in my never-ending quest to rule the world, I bought a Turkish-made Tisas Model 1911A1 .45 auto pistol, which is basically a duplicate of the sidearm that the US military used through WW2, Korea, and Vietnam, before starting to migrate to a wimpier 9 mm or whatever they use now.
I have more than one 1911, but this one was an amazing bargain at $349 brand new.
Now, it’s got some shortcuts - plastic grips, very lame sights, but the important stuff is good - forged barrel, forged slide - and all the mechanics of the 1911 complete with a very crisp trigger.
I fired it side by side with my Colt Government 45 auto and while it was competent and reliable, the colt certainly was the better. As it should be for more than twice the price.
One can never have too many 1911 pistols, in any caliber.
