If memory serves, some Japanese pilots who crashed December 7th were assisted by Japanese US citizens to elude capture in Hawaii. In my college days, one of my party-line leftist buddies defended the interments, noting that the Japanese never had success setting up any kind of espionage or sabotage network in the US.
Whoops, internments, not interments
I’ve read 1000’s of pages of history on the Pacific war and while there was a lot of suspicion about Japs living in Hawaii, i’ve never read anything of the sort.
I understand why FDR did what he did- it is funny how when monuments of Thomas Jefferson or Teddy Roosevelt are regularly removed, nothing bearing the name of FDR is touched.
