Speaking of Mouskouri, I never could decide who did “Three Bells” better, NM or Edith Piaf.

I much prefer the version by Edith Piaf, backed by Les Compagnons de la Chanson (the singing companions), from 1946. The song reminds me of my father, who, like the protagonist, was born in a community at the bottom of a valley, far from other humans and highways, was married in a church, and died on a starry night.
