Debate performance seldom if ever changes minds or votes.
I would argue the opposite. Nixon probably lost the 1960 election because most people thought Kennedy won the debate. Gore lost a very close election against Bush because his debate performance was terrible. I thought Trump's awful debate against Biden cost him re-election.

As I said “seldom if ever” ... The Nixon - Kennedy debates fall squarely into the “seldom” part of my statement.

I thought Trump's awful debate against Biden cost him re-election. Oh boy, where to begin taking this statement apart. How about the 2am CST election vote rigging that happened across multiple states, costing Trump the election?
And that's just for starters.

Nixon probably lost the 1960 election because of mob run voter fraud.
Let’s hope there’s no parallel this time.

President Trump did not lose the 2020 election. I can’t believe I have to say that on this forum.
Biden lost so much that they had to manufacture millions of votes to win by less than 50,000 votes in a few key states.
I think Hershel may have allayed the fears of some conservatives who may have voted for governor but skipped senator.
