You know, we thought Sadam was the only thing standing between the Iraqi citizens yearning for freedom and liberal western democracy. Turned out he was keeping a lid on a Pandora's box of ills. Sadam was a brutal thug, but what has followed is not a whole lot better. And a lot of people died for it.
Saddam was par for the course in the Middle East, but he did keep the Iranians at bay.

Yup, I tend to agree. But my comment was on Ritter. Here was a guy who was a weapons inspector. He wrote many passionate letters to the UN, to our government about how Saddam was hiding his weapons and that we needed to be more aggressive in stopping him. Then, he resigned angrily and noisily.
Next thing I know, he is appearing at a conference that I was attending taking about how he didn’t believe Saddam had WMD’s. Turns out, he was being paid by an entity connected to the Iraqi government.
