No language has individual pronouns. Everybody in the world has a name. The name isn’t necessarily unique, but is sufficient to uniquely identify most of the people that we will encounter and have dealings with.
Many people have trouble remembering names. My strategy for remembering names after I’m introduced to a person is to jot them down with a little description of the person. This works well. But what if I forget a name? Will I be hauled off to the language police? No. Everyone understands and knows quite well that everyone forgets names and it’s not a crime.
So, if names are hard to remember, then what about pronouns? Why should they be any easier to remember? Why isn’t there the same benevolent understanding as for forgetting names?
If they don’t fire you for misnaming someone, then why the blazes are they firing people for forgetting pronouns?
