I used to look down on Ayn Rand novels, because in order to make her subtle-as-a sledge hammer polemical points, she had to concoct the most unrealistically stupid and evil cartoon villains for her heroes to oppose.
But now we have life imitating Ayn.

Considering she lived in a communist regime, perhaps she was actually writing from life and we were too sheltered and spoiled to realize that.
