It definitely seems that there is a power struggle going hot within the Russian govt/elite right now, centered on Sergei Shoigu, the minister of defence, and Yevgeny Prigozhin, head of Wagner Group.

Interestingly, earlier today in Moscow police detained an employee of Prigozhin’s media group Patriot Aleksey Slobodenyuk who runs a network of telegram channels known for attacking Shoigu, Volodin and others. So a hot war among Russia’s elite is very much a reality at this point

🧵#Prigozhin’s propagandist Alexey Slobodenyuk who’s been attacking Shoigu online arrested in #Moscow by SOBR Rosgvardia spetsnaz unit. SOBR are highly loyal to Putin. That this arrest was not made by the FSB, as you’d expect, is indicative of internal power struggle & distrust.

Resulting from yet another humiliating Russian military defeat, two opposing factions are emerging:

-Kadyrov/Prigozhin
Blaming Russian military brass for intelligence, planning, lying to Fuhrer.

-Shoigu/Gerasimov
Want to save their asses, keep their cash, not be dead
