In terms of windspeed, tornados can have greater speed than a hurricane but a tornadic storm is miniscule in size compared to a cyclonic storm. There were over 70 tornado warnings issued with Ian with 11 confirmed tornados.

Yes, I agree.

However the point was that Ian was like an 8 hour tornado, and with wind speeds like that, the person had a point. At least tornadoes come along and are over in a few minutes, even though they can be potentially more destructive.

But 8 hours of sustained winds speeds like that, there’s not a lot that can hold up to that.
