Well I can’t defend the government on covid or the honesty of a Biden administration, which I detest.

Like Trump, I believe Biden blew whatever opportunity he had to deter this war.

Is the war worth it to the American taxpayer?

Yes if you believe our wealth and security can be at risk from a successful Chinese/ Russian axis.

We have some interest in denying Russia the resources of Ukraine, and the opportunity it would give Russia to threaten Poland and Europe.

Also an interest in deterring China or at least weakening Russia as China’s war partner.

The situation is very risky. Once the war started, Putin became desperate. Use of nuclear weapons is unlikely but a terrible risk.

At this point the proxy war is our best bet. Sort of a reverse Vietnam.

I do believe outright failure would be a very bad development.
Especially following the debacle in Afghanistan.

These are my thoughts in short form. I regret needing to accomplish anything via Biden.

I reject all the stuff about the war being about globohomos, etc. That’s just ridiculous. Putin is a legitimate thug, a killer. He’s not doing anybody any favors.

I’m open to the possibility that the United States did it.
Then again the pipelines were not being used. It’s possible Russia did it.
Just that no one knows who did it.

Fair enough. FWIW I never liked Putin or trusted him. But his people vote for him in the up 90% range. The Russians are just as duped as the rest of us (were). It took two decades but the Democrat Party now finds itself at odds with Russia. Strange world.

Again, can’t disagree with you on most of what you posted.

I think we part ways on the nature of current Russian regime.

Is it evil, corrupt, brutal? Of course it is. Is it an ideological, existential enemy as was the Soviet Union, I don’t believe so.

Soviet ideological zealotry led them to foment trouble around the world: from Korea to Africa to Vietnam to Cuba and they got a lot good American soldiers killed along the way. So yes, payback in the Ukraine is well deserved.

But I believe Putin’s Russia is a much less ambitious, non-ideological foe and seemingly unable to project power regionally, much less globally.

I also don’t believe Russia to be America’s natural enemy, the interregnum of the red czars - Lenin and Stalin notwhistanding.

In any case, thank you for your thoughts, well founded.

In case you haven’t noticed the US is teetering on the edge of a similar collapse. Maybe Russia and China will have a party over our grave too?

There is a rythm to world events, and men do nothing that God does not allow. When Israel was a mighty nation, and they went to war without the approval of God through his prophets, they got their heads handed to them. We beat the Germans and the Japanese, the reason was God ordained it. Of course we had to put in the effort and people died by the millions, but at critical times the Hand of God was seen. So it was with the fall of the USSR, and now with the fall of the US. The reason is likely that His hand was taken off of our Nation. You can decide for yourself when that happened, but as early as the 1960’s is my guess. We were the most powerful and prosperous Country in the world, and it has been all downhill since WE (as in our government forces) killed John Kennedy.
