It probably was taken by a professional and therefore there would have been few situations and groups of people who could have afforded the expense that would have been involved in the late 20s. The Scherffs, Mengele, Skorzeny and Bormann hobnobbed with the top of German leadership, however. They no doubt could afford a bit of color photography.

I have numerous color photos from the late 50’s just candid shots taken by my grandad. Color film and processing WAS more expensive so lot of people still used monochrome film.

As for the Scheff/Bush photo I agree its not from 1928 nor are those people Bormann, Menegla etc.

My dad was a big camera guy, we have a lot of color photos, even one from when I was a baby in 1956 lol, that he took himself.

My dad didn’t even have a great camera, but it was 35mm, so all of my baby (1954) and growing up pictures were in color. Plus the ones of my mom and him during their courtship and before I was born, as well as a lot of old photos of my uncles and aunts and our grandparents, so my dad wasn’t alone. My brother was diligent enough to scan them all and make me copies. Quite a few of them are out of focus. lol

So I don’t know where numberonepal got the idea that color pictures until the 70’s were the work of professionals. Simply not so. He must be very young. 😂
