Donald Trump sues CNN claiming defamation, seeks $475M
Former president Donald Trump sued CNN for defamation on Monday, seeking $475 million in punitive damages and claiming that the network had carried out a “campaign of libel and slander” against him.
Trump claims in his lawsuit, filed in US District Court in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., that the network had used its influence as a leading news organization to defeat him politically.
CNN declined to comment on the case.
Trump, a Republican, claims in the 29-page lawsuit that CNN had a long track record of criticizing him but had ramped up its attacks in recent months because the network feared that he would run again for president in 2024.
“As a part of its concerted effort to tilt the political balance to the left, CNN has tried to taint the Plaintiff with a series of ever-more scandalous, false, and defamatory labels of ‘racist,’ ‘Russian lackey,’ ‘insurrectionist,’ and ultimately ‘Hitler,'” the lawsuit claims.

Or as we have seen, it could come before a Trump appointed but McConnell approved judge and be tossed out.
Trump has an extensive record of hiring people to watch his back who turned out to be back stabbers. Pence, Sessions, Barr, Allen, Mattis, McMasters, Bolton, Milley, Tillis and so on.
Exactly
I’ve been advocating for a couple of years now that DeSantis gets the Prez slot and Trump becomes White House Chief of Staff (no Senate confirmation required, McConnell, so solly). I still think that’s the ideal set-up.
There has been 6 more years of media blasting trump and trump acting like Trump. But the bigger point is Trump obviously doesn’t pick good folks in his administration. Desantis has. That is 80% of the battle of a president.
I’d rather have trump as speaker of the house. He didn’t do a great job picking people last time so not sure I want him as chief of staff.
But the CoS is responsible for running all policy development, and daily operations. Worse for the dems, they also are in charge of coordinating and talking with all the departments and agencies. I can’t think of a bigger nightmare for the libs than having Trump be the policy turnstile!
I think Trump would be much more of a nightmare as Speaker of the House, where he’s expected to be vocal than as CoS, where he would outshine his boss.
And let me guess: Both those writers never apologized. Just like the pathetic Pulitzer organization awarding prizes for fake news then refusing to rescind those awards once the truth was out.
