PS - I assume the gas is turned off at the source? I believe that’s what LP said. So how much still has to pour out? I read that never before has such a huge amount of methane has poured into the atmosphere. (I didn’t know natural gas was the same thing as methane.)
What is like the effect of all this going to be?

No impact to the water or atmosphere. It will dissipate quickly. Just don’t light a match. And I heard this gas is under 1000+ psi in the pipeline. That’s a lot more than your propane tank at home.

What is like the effect of all this going to be? Environmentally, nada. The ocean is constantly burping up methane.

methane...into the atmosphere...What is like the effect of all this going to be? Nothing, other than pipeline repair.
