It does a nice job of making zero TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) water out of tap water as long as you keep a close eye on it with a TDS meter, changing the filter without delay as soon as the TDS starts measuring above zero, and clean everything fully every filter change.
Like a cat, I think water should move, so when I first put this together I thought it would be clever to also add a magnetic lab stirrer under the base to gently spin a Teflon coated magnetic pill inside the glass tank, causing the water in the tank to circulate clockwise perhaps 3 to 6 times a minute. (Adjustable)
Interestingly, during the last couple of filter changes I've noticed the need to clean some magnetically attracted black buildup off of that teflon coated pill magnet.
You can see a bit of it in the image on the right.
All water into our Covfefe Pot comes out of this this filter, so whatever our magnet is attracting out of our already zero TDS water, should not be adding to Dad's and my "attractiveness" by way of our beverage of choice, at least.
