Really, you could have done a little research (and work on your syntax).

Chicago has Operation Safe Pump, which puts security at gas stations at scheduled times.

The Thornton's gas chain has armed security guards in many locations, in fact one popped a thief over the summer.

So what. Merchants know the costs of litigation if a guard kills an ‘unarmed looter’. It is all just a business proposition and anyone is a fool to try and defend property the owner isn’t going to. As I said , this is not Paladin, it is a very blue city in 2022. If a mob is looting a store, get away fast so they don’t decide to attack you.
