On 16 Oct, Xi will get elected again. CCP is not happy with Xi. Hu Jintao and Wen Jiabao are putting pressure on Xi to change his style. Xi purged the majority of the Hu and Wen cadre. Hu and Wen are trying to protect CCP because the public is angry about the lockdown and the Tawain insult. HU and Wen trying to protect CCP from a public revolt against CCP.
Chinese TVs are showing pro-Xi programs, which shows he himself consider vulnerable at this time. Last month there was a secret meeting of CCP leaders and they vented out against Xi.
I don’t think revolt will happen, the public is very weak. The public is still enjoying prosperity after a very long time.
I think the other ChiComs are trying to get Xi to not serve a third “term” and want to move back to the post-Deng collectivist system, like Deng mapped out.
Jiang didn’t go for a third ter. Hu didn’t. What is special about Xi? Nothing. I think that is the issue.
