EV owners who live in sunny states can also put solar panels on their roofs and use that to help charge their cars. A friend of mine had solar panels and a Leaf and was able to get back and forth from work on the charge.

They either sell the solar back to the power company during the day and use the money to pay for the electricity they need at night, or have a sufficient amount of battery storage to collect the solar power by day and charge their cars at night.
