“This will be the standard of care,” Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, added. “When you know a drug works, you have to let people in the placebo group know so they can take it.”

Fauci entered a drug in the Remdesivir trials in Africa for the treatment of Ebola. Remdesivir was also in that drug trial. Both Remdesivir and Fauci's drug were the first to be removed from the trial for toxicity or patient harm. Remdesivir caused the most death, largely from organ failure. Fauci had no excuse to enter it in the Covid trials.
