Thank you for an excellent post! Thank God for FR, but it is delusional to think we here reflect the vast majority and others can be ignored.

Aw, thank you most kindly (blush). Such things won’t matter much in heavily Republican districts and states, so-called “safe seats”, but these things can make a difference when it comes to hotly contested seats. You know how the analysts go on about “the swing vote” and “swing states”. The votes of fickle Independents and wishy-washy Republicans and Democrats can be a deciding factor in some races.

If some Democrats get a little more fired up to go vote for their candidate, even if it’s just about some side issue that that is more emotional than substantive, and some Republicans who are more centrist are less fired up, well ...

It’s sad how polarized our country has become. And our polarizing media have become more polarized themselves. The Dems are all not all far left kooks like AOC. Republicans aren’t all far right. There are far more centrists in both parties than it appears from reading and watching our media. And, thanks to those blasted algorithms, than it appears from surfing the internet or looking at social media. We end up in little bubbles that way, too. There is a silent (and silenced) majority. We ignore it at our peril.

On the Republican side, lots are absolutely no fans of Liz Cheney, but neither are all huge fans of Margery Taylor Greene. But you rarely read or hear about the many Republican voters who are sick of RINOs and posers, but not all that comfortable with the far, far right, either.
