Christmas tree shopping is typically a leisurely family activity that includes the father. What was the date of the accident? Why in such a hurry to buy a tree?

The accident was on Dec. 18th, 1972. I’m not sure where Joe was at the time. That particular article doesn’t say. It’s been theorized that she was distracted with the kids and therefore didn’t see the other vehicle. Also, there was a hill close to the intersection that limited visibility of approaching traffic.

Little details like those always seem elusive in this story and I never have heard what time of evening it was. Truck load of corn cobbs, what a way to go.
