“if you don’t want to follow the laws the state sets…move to another state.”

Your statement has some merit. Still, there are a few things to consider.

Was she given literature that explained state law and hospital procedures? Probably not.

Do you read all the legal fine print provided to you? Probably not. I don’t. Most people are trusting. Also, most businesses are customer oriented. We trust business, and that trust is generally rewarded.

What percentage of couples study state laws before deciding where to work, by a home, and have a baby? Probably a lower percentage that the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, or .04%.

Medical staff mean well. They will do their best, AFTER satisfying constraints set by multiple regulatory agencies and insurance companies. The patient/customer, or their family representative, should have the last word. Too often, that is not the case.

Actually, the 24 hour test was explain at a prenatal class we received for parents coming to the hospital. In 1990 and 1993.

In 2019 I attended the same class with my daughter when her husband was deployed. They talked about all of the state tests.

She probably didn’t attended those “required” sessions. She probably didn’t read the information provided.

She sounds like she is the first woman to have a baby.

I am actually disappointed in her, as these tests are used to prescreen for very dangerous developmental issues at a point where intervention can help.

But she is a celebrity. So, she knows better.
