I expect them to go after the Whitefish Chain of Lakes, next.

There go the leftists again, removing American Indian women from the picture. Squaw was never used as a derogatory term when I was growing up. Never.

Glad that changed it to such a catchy name, instead of something complicated like woman lake. Or native american woman lake.

What’s that? An African name. By the way, what are the Indians calling women these days now that the whiter than Snowflakes with their worthless fake college diplomas won’t allow them to use the “sq....” word anymore?

That name is a lot easier to remember than Squaw, which I just about guarantee the people of the region will still call it. More waste is all it is. Who was the guy who used to bring out the stupid wasteful things government spent their money on? He was really famous, a Congressional Rep I think.

The are also doing that in Michigan, for anything named "Squaw" (and probably the rest of the country too). For example, "Squaw Bay" of Lake Huron at the 45th parallel in Michigan, is now "Birdsong Bay". (See
"7 Mid-Michigan waterways renamed to eliminate use of Native American term".)
Among other things, this means that any maps you have which include Michigan and Squaw Bay are now obsolete.

LOL! Reminds me of the 1960s when the government changed some names of landmarks. I still remember the old names.
Whorehouse Meadows became “Naughty Girl meadows.”
“Bullshirt springs” was originally...oh well you can figure it out.
Locals will still call them by the old names for decdes.
To: ButThreeLeftsDo
“The new name for the lake formerly known as Squaw Lake, which is located in Pine County, is Manidoons Zaaga’igan Zhaawanor.”
Which in the Zaagaa’doons language means Elizabeth Warren.
