I really have not kept up but read some of the Nord VPN website. They don't give a lot of details in top level web pages. They do have an interesting section on whether you might want a dedicated IP or not. That's interesting because generally you want a VPN with a shared IP so you can hide in the crowd. But they mentioned that sometimes their shared IPs are blacklisted.

Essentially various providers figure out (rather easily) that a shared IP is being used as a VPN to prevent them from spying on people or making it more difficult. So they simply block it. Or there are people using the shared IP for illicit or illegal purposes and sites want to proactively block those people in a pure guilt-by-association sense.

Have you noticed any sites that don't work properly or work differently than for someone not on a VPN?

Much moreso when I was using a 'free' VPN years ago (for obvious reasons).
With NordVPN, on very rare occasions, I have to disable it.. usually for online transactions (which is also understandable).

I signed up with Truth Social today so I could 'follow' Pres. Trump, and it had a page that refused me to go past it, I believe because of the VPN (on the PC).
Ironically, on both my iPhone and iPad, which both also use the same VPN account (but more than likely each using a different VPN IP), the registration went smoothly and quickly.
