We elect leaders. We do not crown kings. If the Brits want to do that, more power to them. But I’m glad we are not doing that in America. I have respect for Elizabeth II. Charles suck. William seem to be sold but he’s young, plenty of times for him too be screwed up like his father.
Thanks for clarifying.
Also, don’t forget that the sentiment with respect to not having a hereditary monarch (or even an elected king) goes back to the response of pastor Jonas Clarke to British forces in 1775, “We recognize no sovereign but God and no king but Jesus”.
“WE elect leaders” I would say they are supposed to be representatives of the republic.
With the advent of computerized voting, no voter ID, felon and illegal voting, mail in ballots for all, ballot harvesting, early voting, ballot box stuffing mules, election months instead of election DAY, ranked choice voting, we now have SELECTED oligarchs.
Somehow a monarchy doesn’t look as distasteful as it is merely a figurehead unless all of parliament collapes.
Don’t kid yourself. How can you explain the Kennedy dynasty, the Bushes, or the suggestion that Michelle Obama might be a presidential candidate. Clearly, neither merit nor ability have much to do with it.
Keep saying that and they will become more monarch like than they are now. I never have voted for anyone to be a “leader”, representative and administrator yes, leader no. It is supposed to be like that in a representative republic. Problem is, they have gotten the idea we elect them because we think they are smart enough to make decisions they want and put them on us. Also the way things are going they may as well be kings, they act like them.
Power is like a drug, that is why it should be limited in scope and duration lest it become an addiction.
ROFL!!!!!
Yeah.
Right ...
“We elect leaders. We do not crown kings. If the Brits want to do that, more power to them. But I’m glad we are not doing that in America.”
Yes, since we can elect America loving statesmen such as Obama, Clinton, Biden, etc. Queen Elizabeth understandably could not measure up to such quality.
