McConnell was able to destroy the Tea Party movement without help from his Democrat friends. MAGA has been a little tougher and he needs the help of Democrats to get it done.

McConnell holds the purse strings for Senate candidates, NRSC. Note: it’s not his money, it is brought to him by those that want him to manage who gets and who doesn’t get financing for Senate campaigns. In other words. It’s a sneaky way to buy Senate seats. Those that bring $$$ also bring money for ‘book deals’ and sinecures for family members or special relations.

McCarthy is similarly positioned in the House.
