I don't see it as "blaming the victim" but rather an example to others what happens when poor choices are made.
Of course the fact that I spent the first 57 years of my life in NYC may be influencing my mind set.

…they are just recognizing the common sense of NOT running in the dark, carrying no weapon or even mace ( because I think if she had it she would have used it!)
…and in skimpy clothes.
I thought I read she does the same run, same time, same route.

Given nowadays she could be abducted in the broad daylight, but it is just plain dumb to run at night!

It's not blaming the victim to point out that she did something incredibly stupid and reckless. You don't jump into a cage full of feral predators; if you do, you should expect to be attacked and killed. It's what feral predators do.

Memphis is a cage of feral predators. I'm nervous driving through there on the Interstate in the daytime with my loaded pistol on the seat next to me, and I'm a guy.

Disagree. That woman's foolishness is what got her killed. Running in Memphis at night is little different than running through a mine field. You might get away with it for awhile, but at some point you are going to meet death.

Some people simply don't grasp that the world is dangerous, and some parts of it are incredibly dangerous.
