Not sure about North Carolina, but in some less populous rural counties, the coroner, and mortician are the same person.
As to my post regarding the embalmer, who has been one for 42 years, btw, the veins, and arteries have to be flushed of blood with a pressurized solution. When the flush doesn’t work because of these rubbery clots, they have to be physically removed.
Also, when they use the mega blender thing inside the body of the corpse, if I was a mortician, and seeing weird stuff on the flush, I would probably take a peek at what else is going on in there. I assume, they still place some of the blenderized contents in the little bag between the decedent’s feet.
In my town, there seem to be more cremations than before COVID. I base this on the flames, and smoke I see in the evenings coming from the huge chimney atop the crematory which is across from the courthouse.
(Fun fact) I used to think the smoke and flames were from the taxidermy next to the funeral home until I walked in there when a casket I ordered was delivered.
When an embalmer who as you state can also be a morcitican sees the same problems over and over we are looking at evidence.Some times if it looks like a rat it is a rat.
To think that the rubbery clots have not been analyzed by the biggest and best is rather naive,its hard to have all that info at the tip of your finger tips but it will appear,it always does.
