Europe needs a revitalized Marshal Plan focusing on oil and especially natural gas from the United States. Unfortunately that would require a president with a functional brain attached to a fortified backbone.
An important point has been raised here, why does the EU not pursue the high degree of probability that there may be enormous quantities of natural gas on the European continent?
Look what was found in North America when the process of fracking revealed a HUGE reservoir of natural gas locked in rock strata, and helped to lead to our one-time energy independence. The same kind of miracle could lead to a vast reduction in reliance on foreign sources of energy for most if not all of the European countries. While not much in the way of oil wells has ever been developed, fracking could also release enormous quantities of petroleum.
It just takes investment of money, and Europeans are already squandering a lot of cash on now unreliable sources.
Germany has been researching the production of clean coal for at least the last couple of centuries, isn’t it about time to apply these lessons in the conversion of coal to clean energy. The first thing to do, of course, is to remove the designation of “pollutant” from carbon dioxide, which is after all, a most essential plant food, and the true basis of all life on earth. Without carbon dioxide, sunshine and the magic of photosynthesis, there never would have been the vast quantities of free oxygen (an extremely corrosive element, it might be added) in our atmosphere.
Are you volunteering to pay for the increases in our domestic gasoline, natural gas and food bills that your proposal will cause?
I'll send you the overages on my bills.
