However, this past January I had all the symptoms of covid and was in such rough shape that I didn't even feel like driving myself in for a test, much less to the hospital.
Besides, I feared walking out of the hospital alive or worse. So it was bed rest, chicken soup and rice for the first 3 days. Improvement was slow until day four when I remembered the horse paste I'd bought at my local Agway last fall just in case.
By day 6, I felt enough better that I drove in for a test and, by the next day, was mostly back to normal when the phone rang and told me I tested negative.
When I related this incident to the family sawbones a few weeks later, he gently scolded me for not going into the ER immediately, reminded me that horse paste wasn't approved for human use then added, "but I won't argue with your result."
