The father of my uncle (by marriage) died on the USS West Virginia at Pearl Harbor. He never saw his son, who was an infant at the time. Another uncle was on the tarmac when they loaded the Enola Gay for the Hiroshima mission.

The memory of our family service members can be sad but they deserve to be remembered and admired for the sacrifice they made for all of us.
