Intravenous antibiotics? Sounds serious. I hope he gets well but my layman’s take is that he has an antibiotic-resistant bacterial strain. Or an oddball one which oral antibiotics won’t touch. Or perhaps he is allergic to the class of or antibiotics which works best.
