I see something else, where the conditions outlined by Madison in Federalist #46 will be fulfilled, and the states will take the lead. This will be fulfilled both in the Electoral College and eventually in an Article V Convention of the States. I suspect that is part of Plan Q, both short term and longer term.

Trump's recent statements about the need to have the real president back, or have an emergency election, as well as his many statements, with increasing urgency, that the country is getting destroyed, show that the need is great. Waiting another year or two will render the country so destroyed it will be impossible to fix, and Trump has made statements to that effect.

The states have had 10 months to get their acts together. A few have done a little, or some, but at this rate we'll all die of old age or in a gulag before your ideas would happen.

There are too many evil actors embedded in fed, state, county and municipal governments to be able to fix the rot. I've quoted this a number of times, and it is very apropos now:

When once a Republic is corrupted, there is no possibility of remedying any of the growing evils but by removing the corruption and restoring its lost principles; every other correction is either useless or a new evil.
Thomas Jefferson quoting Baron de Montesquieu

The states have had 10 months to get their acts together.

The key to understanding this is the fact that not only did the Democrats oppose Trump, so did the Republicans. We're failing to think in terms of the Uniparty, not simply Democrats and Republicans. Trump's MAGA movement is in fact a third party operating within the Republican Party and opposed by the institutional Republican Party.

If Trump Republicans seize enough state legislatures, we'll finally see, come this January, the recall of electors at the state level. This will bring us into uncharted waters, and the Supreme Court will have to sort it all out. This is why I think a contingent election may be the solution that the Court decides upon. It fits the 12th Amendment.
