HEAD’S UP: The DoJ reply says a Special Master should have Top Secret clearance - NOT “Q” level clearance - meaning they don’t have anything pertaining to anything “nuclear”.

Hmmmmm....not necessarily so, Steve. Disclosure: I worked several contracts at DOE. I had a TS SCI. DOE accepted me on the team with this as it is the Q equivalent and DOE wanted to do the background checks to issue a Q on someone who would work on-site full time. This was one of several contracts I had, so I was not granted a desk/billet at DOE when it could go to someone who would be there full time.

While Q clearances are not exactly “rare” I think if the Master doesn’t have one, it would NOT preclude him from looking at documents that may be marked with a “Q”.

Just my experience......
