Sam is a bright guy, but he’s honest about his political stance re: Trump and his supporters. He’s been consistent, and was never one to pull his punches, which does not endear him to the establishment grifters. And it’s not at all surprising to hear him blurt out his honest beliefs in this context. I disagree with him on just about everything, but at least he’s clear about what he believes.
He honestly believes that the Trump movement is dangerous and authoritarian, in spite of all evidence to the contrary, and he says so whenever given the opportunity, which, IMHO is a good thing. At least Sam states his position clearly, a rare thing in todays’ society.
I doubt very much that Jordan P. is what any of us would call a “conservative”, either, though he’s certainly caricatured as such in the media. His podcast is worth listening to, though he’s clearly still recovering from his health issues, and doesn’t seem to have half the energy he had before.
Peterson does not identify as a conservative. He’s probably more a classical liberal, not to be confused with radical leftist, much more a civil rights type of guy. In one of his hundreds of videos he talks about the need for tension between right and left and that tension charts a course acceptable to a majority without going to extremes. It’s important to know what he considers extreme. That would be Nazis, Stalinists and the sorts that brutally murdered tens of millions in the 20th century. That’s a lot of wiggle room. He’s worth listening to because he will make me critically think, unlike watching people shout over each other on news programs. I loathe any news segment that has Republicans and Democrats on the same panel. I want to hear all opinions so I can tear them apart, particularly Republican ones because they are often mush and reactionary to unfounded attacks.
