So why aren't they advocating contact tracing for monkeypox??

If it is like Smallpox, it should be possible to ring vaccinate around known cases, people who had been exposed several days previously, and then people in the same households. It is not a fast growing virus. Vaccination along with behavior modification will make the infections die out. I'm more concerned about transmission to household pets and then wild animals with which they could come in contact. Prevention of endemic infection of wild animals should be a priority.

It's the "behavior modification" that is the issue.

And I'm not being anti-gay with that. If this was a disease that was being passed primarily through the heterosexual community, there would be a massive public campaign about refraining from sex with people you don't know for a period of a few weeks. That alone would clear up the disease because everyone who was infected would present visible symptoms and could be avoided.

The only reason they're not doing that is because it's being transmitted primarily through the gay community, and expecting them to adhere to the same conduct as would heterosexuals is being "homophobic". It's bizarre.
