On what legal authority can the feds seize the passports of someone who hasn’t been charged with anything? If this is true, the first step would be a phone call by Trump’s lawyers demanding their return. The next step would be to sue and go for blood.

There is no legal authority to support the confiscation of a passport by law enforcement agencies from anyone who is not indicted or charged with a crime.
