So here it is straight and simple:
1) Get off the self pity trip. It's a ride to no where. And it shows a marked emotional immaturity.
2) Alcoholic is a depressant. Bending the elbow is going to make it go away.
3) Any idiot can drink himself to death. You say you're smart. Drinking yourself to death isn't smart. It's stupid.
My suggestion to you: Find an AA group in your area , an open meeting preferably. An open meeting is just that, it's open to the public as opposed to a closed meeting for alcoholics only. Go to an open meeting and listen the speakers. If you don't think AA is for you you're free to refund your misery at the door. Good luck.
The drunk was in need, feeling like he had dug a pit too deep. His therapist gave him some positive energy and code words. The preacher told him “I’ll pray for you.”
The fellow alcoholic from AA jumped into the pit with him. The drunk said “What are you doing!? Now you’re in the pit with me!”
“Yeah - but I know the way out.”

My Grandpa was sober over 45 years and helped many find sobriety…God bless him! He use to go out in the middle of the night to help families dealing with an alcoholic. The grown children from these families came to honor him when he passed away.
