When President Donald Trump takes the stage at a major conservative conference in Dallas on Saturday he will likely have just received a boost to his 2024 plans in the form of a straw poll that will almost certainly rank him as the clear favorite among attendees.
But that is not the end of the story as far as Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, whose star has been on the rise this year.
Attendees at the Conservative Political Action Conference want him first to continue the work he is doing in Florida before taking up the national MAGA torch in the 2028 election.

Rejecting the salary would be a workaround, but then why bother with the headache of two stressful jobs?

(1) Trump and DeSantis are actually pretty close.
(2) I doubt DeSantis runs if Trump does. He said something to that effect some time ago. He also knows he would start $100+ million behind in fundraising from the start.
(3) Their agenda’s would be very much the same.
A few things that I am not delusional about are:
(1) We’ve never had a president that understands business the way Trump does. He put Main Street before Wall Street.
(2) He did more to bring peace than any president in our lifetimes.
(3) He stood up for people of faith.
(4) I could go on about the great things he did.
Trump was president and was in a better position to keep the election from being stolen. It was stolen. What’s to keep it from happening again? It will likely get worse. They don’t care if we know and the media will cover for them. No one inspires them more than Trump.
The biggest problem we have is obama. The stench of that pos has to be removed. obama undermined the Trump administration from Day 1. He made it impossible to work with Russia. We had a common objective at the time — eliminate ISIS. obama extradited 35 Russian diplomats before Trump even took office. It was obama’s people that showed Zuckerberg where to spend the $400 million to steal the election. No one has ever undermined our nation like obama.
If Trump wins in 2024, that’s the best situation for us. I am just not very confident Trump is the most likely to win. Unfortunately, there are many that would vote republican that won’t vote for Trump. Like it or not, we need their vote. We need voters that don’t just think the the CPAC crowd.
I am about as conservative as one gets but I know we cannot take another loss in 2024. We still need a great leader. I know Trump is one but I believe DeSantis could be one too.
Again, I would be very happy if Trump is re-elected in 2024.

I don’t know but no one inspires the extremists like Trump does. They will throw everything they can to keep him out. Unfortunately, there are some that might would vote with the Rs that would not participate. We are going to need every vote.
Regardless, I believe Trump can be a great leader for the movement if he’s president or not. Personally, I don’t know why anyone would want the job.
Again, I would love to have Trump in 2024. All I know is it’s over for the USA if we get four more years of democrats.
So why not just go with the sure thing??
I dont think DeSantis the politician has the stomach to actually take on and expose the deep state and swamp the way Trump would ... and those republicans (rinos) that would not vote for Trump ...they become the reason we'd never get our Country back anyway
... if they cant see the light... the US as we once knew it is gone forever... Hense we cant afford to TAKE A CHANCE with DeSantis

I don’t believe we’re that far apart concerning our political positions. I believe if we were two people talking, we’d agree on most everything. I defend Trump almost daily.
My thoughts are, and they’re wrong at times, is that republicans are going to have to appeal to some of those more in the center. It’s unfortunate that they can vote but they can and I believe we’ll need that vote to win.
Trump would be my top choice if I felt he was most likely to win in 2024. I am just not so sure that’s the case.
Trump is old. He’ll be 78 in 2024.
He’s a lightning rod. He is going to be under constant attack and everything he says will be twisted.
Trump needs to decide if he’s running based on what he is willing and able put into the candidacy and subsequent presidency.
Only if Trump declines to run should De Santis enter the fray.

After what the Deep State™, the MSM and the election fraudsters did to Trump ( to us really), we on the right should understand the historical magnitude of that, and be clearing the decks for Trump. NOT PRIMARYING HIM. He is essentially the incumbent and BECAUSE THE ELECTION IN '20 WAS FRAUDELENT that cannot stand.
Challenging Trump is disrespectful, stupid and plays into the hands of the left.
I don't care who you are if you challenge Trump in the Primary then you have outed yourself and an enemy of the republic for which we stand.
