I think the funding amount is for several years.

"There is almost $80 billion in appropriations for the IRS to put toward taxpayer services and enforcement specified in the bill, nearly all of which would be available until 2031.

To contextualize the proposed appropriations amount, the IRS had actual expenditures of $13.7 billion in fiscal 2021. That included supplemental funding so that the agency could handle COVID-19-related expenses.

An increase that averages out to roughly $8.9 billion per year would represent a significant boost to the agency’s budget."

Thanks for the info. That is about what I remember. If the spending is applied evenly until 2031 then that is a 65% increase over 2021 on a non-inflation adjusted comparison. That does not mean that the money could not be spent faster and new funds requested before 2031. This is HUGE increase, but not 7X. It is still something to be worried about.
