The pattern will continue as long as men drink, party, lie, cheat and behave abusively to the women they promised to love, fail to make a responsible plan for their sex life, and believe that even when they are married and become a father, all that they earn is "theirs" alone.
In the old days, many women had to put up with abuse. Now, they can at least get themselves and their kids away from the brunt of it. And yes, the father of the child should support the child, regardless.
