What sidearm do you prefer?
Oh, you know. I'm an old Vietnam Vet. I carry a 1911 Colt's Commander Model in .45 ACP.
Without going into the story that goes along with it, The local Police captain directly approved and deemed it appropriate for dealing with local annoyances up to and including black bears. He did, however, allow as how he preferred the full size 1911 that he carried.
When carrying a rifle afield, my back up is a Ruger GP100.
