That “non-ideal” part is a question. Most of the Mounties I see spent a lot of time parked with the AC on. AC typically uses about 5 HP so how many stake outs is that?

Range is not a big concern for special use vehicles. I often see unmanned police cars at construction sites with lights flashing. Perfect for this.

For routine police work the EV might be find. Largely fixed route, charge overnight. For long pursuits, just let the bad guy go. That’s what police are supposed to do now, isn’t it?

Yeah the range numbers they give are kind of BS anyways. I saw a video recently where someone tested electric vs gas pickups and the gas one way outlasted the electric one. And that is just one issue.
