Excellent, we can use this wormhole to travel faster than light.
How far away is it?
That’s a good question. They say it’s the oldest galaxy ever seen (which means it’s farther away than any galaxy ever seen), but even Webb can’t take photos like the one pictured of galaxies that are 13+ billion ly away, afaik. Not with that much detail.
Also funny, which I know was deliberate on your part, a deliberately funny twist on the matter, was your comment that we could use this wormhole to travel faster than light! HeeHee, not unless we can travel faster than light in the first place just to get there! Still chuckling over that one. :-)
Basically, this is an ‘attention getting’ article. It’s an example of a Science PR staff gone wild. It’s like “Girls Gone Wild” but without the wet tee-shirt contest and without the girls!
In theory a wormhole structure linking disparate points in spacetime. It’s speculative but interesting speculation. It is based on a special solution of the Einstein field equations. Wormholes are consistent with the general theory of relativity. So far to the best of my knowledge nothing definitive physically has been found that directly says they exist or even implies they exist. Theory has led the way before so they may exist so stay tuned!
