Can’t do it.
Congress passed laws giving these employees all kinds of protections.
Whoever is saying Trump will do this is barking at the moon UNLESS .....
UNLESS the GOP is behind Trump and that means a filibuster proof Senate majority.
All these howling blustered numbnuts yelping about Trump made “poor personnel choices” in his presidency, they don’t understand DC, the Swamp.
What can be done are RIFs = Reductions in Force. But RIFs are general and not specific. And the federal workforce has a say in how it’s done. Which means Swamp lizards will still be there after the RIF.
That’s why a GOP needs to be a Trump GOP. If we have a MAGA Party, that if filibuster-proof, then Trump can pull it off.
I’m not trying to be a spoiler, I’m being a realist.
The thing to understand is Trump as a private sector CEO had huge choices to structure a workforce as he saw fit. But Trump as a government CEO is restricted. He has power over his political appointees but not the general federal workforce.
US Attorneys are appointed, so they can be fired.
The reality of the federal workforce is that the “managers” have all promoted each other to the top, they cover for each other. And the Democrats together with RINOs kiss the butts of these “managers” to “expedite “, make certain things a priority, such as prosecute Steve Bannon for giving them a middle finger salute.
Etc. How DC works. Hate it.
Used to be federal workers earned much less than private workers. Now it’s opposite. And feds know how to double dip, triple dip etc.
“Congress passed laws giving these employees all kinds of protections.” You can move their offices to remote and unappealing locations, Try places like Minot, ND or Jackman, Maine.
