From what I understand from brief reading is McLaren signed the Indy car driver to race F1. The driver was still free to race Indy car.....if he wanted 🤣

Although extremely talented, Palou somehow didn’t get an F-1 slot early on, and signed with Dale Coyne, then with Chubby Chip for a rumored low salary, where he has prospered.
He nearly won the Indy 500 in 2021 and got the championship.
Probably a top 2 again this year but ran out of fuel and never got back up front.
